My name is Thomas Schaefer. Born in Mexico, Mexico City, I was raised by an Army family. I have been to many places around the world and continue to travel where I can. For the past 3 years I have been on Okinawa, Japan. No, I cannot speak Japanese but yes, the food is great. I think of Texas as my home.
During the day, I am an EMSEC manager for a very large base and manage an Enterprise Information Assurance program for a company called the USAF.
During the night, I enjoy working on my servers or playing with my website. I test security within a local network and how to minimize vulnerabilities. I blog about some of my experiences and try to share my knowledge. I also love to host websites and design them.
What are you running?
I currently run 16 servers based on a wide range of hardware. Most of it is custom built using retail parts and is somewhat old. My worth mentioning hardware has at least a dual core 2.2 Ghz proc with at least 2gb ram. I love to run Microsoft Server 2008 Ent. Edition for my NAS and backup servers. My DHCP and DNS Server also run Win 2008 Ent. My web server is running a single core AMD socket “A” with 1GB RAM and running Ubuntu Server Ed. I have a SuperMicro server that is my main router running pfsense, dual WAN. All my servers are housed in a 42U server rack within my house. I have some old pics of the rack here.

Free stuf, please. I love to receive emails from anyone that needs something like how did I do… or do you know how to… Send them this way. I cannot, however, continue to receive bottles of used acid. This is turning out to be bad for my health.
