The first thing that we need to do is gather our tools that we will be using. We need to have our Windows XP Pro install CD at a minimum.

When we turn on the used computer make sure that you see the computer post. In other words, make sure the computer looks like ↓ when you turn it on.

Next, at this point were going to insert the Windows XP Pro install cd. The computer should detect the cd and ask you if you want to boot from it. When it asks if you want to boot to cd, press the any key :)

If your computer doesn't detect the cd then you need to go into bios (by pressing F2 or delete at startup) and configure the cd-rom as the primary boot device.

The Windows cd will boot and start to do some system detection. Then it will start to load and copy some files. These files are necessary to continue the setup process. We are now in text mode installation. Once all the files are copied, you will be prompted for input.

Press Enter to Continue. Press F8 to agree to the EULA. Now you will be at the Partition Page.

We are going to press D to delete the existing partition. Press Enter followed by L to confirm.

Now there are no partitions on the Hard Disk. Press Enter to install and Choose "Format the partition using the NTFS file system". Now your Hard Disk will slowly be formatted. It takes time and depending how large the Hard Disk is, it can take a while.

Next setup will copy all the system files to your Hard Disk. If anything goes wrong during this stage, just try again.

Your system will reboot when the Text mode setup is complete.

Now you will begin the GUI setup mode. You will need to input some information like your time zone, your Windows XP Pro Product Key etc.

I'm not going to walk you through the entire thing, because it is very simple, but I'll show you what to do at the end of the GUI Setup. However, if you do get stuck along the way from this point to the next, it is my opinion that the data you input doesn't really matter, and can be changed after setup. Also if you run into any problems during this setup, just reboot the computer but do NOT press the any key to boot to cd, just let the computer boot and setup will restart for you.

Alright Now your done with that. Your computer will reboot and bring you to a new page.

Now your are in Windows XP. There are some final setup things you must complete before login on. (notice: this is a recommendation, other wise just reboot and use 'administrator' as the login and the password you set in the GUI setup phase. )
